FAMILIA ESCUDERO, NAGHANDOG NG SCHOOL SITE


Pinahahalagahan ni Club President Romulo M. Awayan ang pangasiwaan ng Villa Escudero Corporation (VESCO) na naging makatotohanan ang layunin ng San Pablo City (Host) Lions Club na mapagkalooban ang Sityo Baloc Annex ng Santo Niño Elementary School ng isang two-room permanent schoolbuilding dahilan sa sila ang nagkaloob ng 1,000 metro kuwadradong lote para mapagtayuan nito.


Ang pagkapagkaloob ng lote sa Division of San Pablo City sa paraang donacion intervivos ay bunga ng pagsasakit ni City Councilor Arsenio A. Escudero Jr. na nakababatang kapatid ni Don Conrado A. Escudero, chairman of the board ng korporasyon..


Sa ulat ni Romy Awayan, napag-alaman na ang project chairman/manager na nangangasiwa sa pag-uugnay-ugnay ng construction activities ay si Past President Pol Cortez, samantala ang mga project engineer ay sina Past President Bernardo C. Adriano Jr. and Danilo D. Dichoso Sr.
Ang ipinatatayong two-room schoolbuilding ay ipapalit sa lumang gusali na yari sa mahihinang materyales na nakatayo sa isang hiram na lote na pinag-aaralan ng mga batang mula sa Grade One hanggang Grade Four na pinangangasiwaan ng dalawang guro.


Ang mga mag-aaral ay karaniwang anak ng mga mga scavenger o ng mga namumulot ng basura sa garbage dumpsite ng pangasiwaang lunsod, kaya ang paaralan ay nakatayo sa hindi kalayuan sa makabagong sanitary landfill kung saan mayroon ding material recovery facilities.


Ayon kay Engr. Awayan, pipilitin nilang ang gusali ay matapos kaagad upang ito ay magamit sa pagsisimula ng school year ngayon buwang ng Hunyo. Sila ay tinatulungan ng mga boluntaryong karpintero na mga kawal ng 202nd Infrantry Brigade sa pakikipag-ugnayan kay Brig. Gen. Jorge V. Tumutulong din ang Parents Teachers and Community Association (PTCA) ng Sityo Baloc Annex at maging ang Sangguniang Barangay ng Santo Niño na may hurisdiksyon sa dumpsite area (Ben Taningco)

DOÑA LEONILA (MINI-FOREST) PARK

What is now known as Doña Leonila (Mini-Forest) Park overlooking the Sampaloc Lake is actually a portion of the site for the City Hall Complex purchased in 1937 by the Municipal Government of San Pablo headed by President Inocencio Barleta, which was partly developed after the termination of World War II under the administration of appointed City Mayor, Dr. Fernando A.
