ARAW NG KALAYAAN, GUGUNITAIN SA SABADO

 
Noong nakaraang taon, ang pagtataas ng watawat ay pinangasiwaan ng liderato ng San Pablo City Reservists Association.




     SAN PABLO CITY – Si City Schools Division Superintendent Enric T. Sanchez ang tatalakay  sa kahulugan at kahalagahan ng paggunita sa ika-112 Taon ng Pagkapagpahayag ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas sa darating na Sabado, Hunyo 12, 2010 sang-ayon sa paanyayang tinanggap ng pahayagang ito.


     Sa palatuntunang gaganapin sa harapan ng bantayog ni Dr. Jose P. Rizal sa liwasang lunsod simula sa ganap na ika-7:30 ng umaga, ang bibigkas ng pambungad na pananalita matapos na maitaas ang watawat ay si Vice Mayor-Elect Angelita E. Yang. Bibigkas din ng pananalita si dating Vice Mayor Palermo A. Bañagale bilang pangulo ng San Pablo Cultural and Historical Society. Magsasalita rin sina Congresswoman Ma. Evita R. Arago at Alkalde Vicente B. Amante.


     Ang pag-awit ng doksolohiya at Lupang Hinirang ay sa pangunguna ng Koro ng mga Pinuno at Kawani ng Pangasiwaang Lunsod.


     Ayon kay City Administrator Loreto S. Amante na siyang bibigkas ng panghuling pananalita, pagkatapos ng public convocation ay isusunod kaagad ang tradisyonal na pag-aalay ng pumpon ng mga bulaklak na pangungunahan ng pununglunsod at mga pinunong lunsod, gayon din ng mga kinatawan ng iba’t ibang tanggapan at ahensya ng pamahalaang nakabase sa lunsod na ito, lider ng iba’t ibang samahang sibiko at organisasyon sa paglilingkod, mga kapatiran at kilusang relihiyoso, kasama na ang mga guro at beterano. DOÑA LEONILA (MINI-FOREST) PARK

What is now known as Doña Leonila (Mini-Forest) Park overlooking the Sampaloc Lake is actually a portion of the site for the City Hall Complex purchased in 1937 by the Municipal Government of San Pablo headed by President Inocencio Barleta, which was partly developed after the termination of World War II under the administration of appointed City Mayor, Dr. Fernando A. Bautista. During the incumbency of elected Mayor Lauro D. Dizon Sr., with the help of the Rotary Club of San Pablo, and under the supervision of Dr. Juan B. Hernandez, then club secretary of the local Rotary Club and Chairman of the City Beautification Committee, constructed some park structures at the park, with the fountain featuring the country lass with agriculture harvest as centerpiece.
