VICE MAYOR BOY HERNANDEZ, NAMAYAPA NA


     ALAMINOS, Laguna – Namatay sanhi ng karamdaman sa puso noong Miyerkoles, Hulyo 14, 2010 si Vice Mayor Demetrio Paguio Hernandez Jr. sa gulang na 60 taon, at ang kanyang mga labi ay kasalukuyang pinaglalamayan sa kanilang tahanan sa Barangay III, at nakatakdang ihatid sa kaniyang huling hantungan sa kanilang sariling libingan sa may libingan bayan sa darating na Miyerkoles, Hulyo 21, 2010.

     Anak ni Atty. Demetrio Hernancez Sr., na naging board member ng Laguna bago nagkadigma, si Demetrio Jr. ay isinilang noong Nobyembre 16, 1949. siya ay nanungkulang halal na punumbayan noong 1998 – 2001. Nahala na pangalawang punumbayan noong Mayo 10, 2010, nakaganap siyang tagapangulo ng kapulungan ng Sangguniang Bayan sa dalawa lamang pagkakataon, noong organization meeting noong Lunes, Hulyo 5, at sa unang regular session noong Lunes, Hulyo 12, 2010 kung saan ang naging paksa ng pagpupulong ay ang pagpapaunlad ng isang conventional sanitary landfill na isang matagal na nila ni Mayor Eladio M. Magampon  na pangarap na maipatupad. (Ruben E. Taningco)

DOÑA LEONILA (MINI-FOREST) PARK

What is now known as Doña Leonila (Mini-Forest) Park overlooking the Sampaloc Lake is actually a portion of the site for the City Hall Complex purchased in 1937 by the Municipal Government of San Pablo headed by President Inocencio Barleta, which was partly developed after the termination of World War II under the administration of appointed City Mayor, Dr. Fernando A. Bautista. During the incumbency of elected Mayor Lauro D. Dizon Sr., with the help of the Rotary Club of San Pablo, and under the supervision of Dr. Juan B. Hernandez, then club secretary of the local Rotary Club and Chairman of the City Beautification Committee, constructed some park structures at the park, with the fountain featuring the country lass with agriculture harvest as centerpiece.
