APAT NA KOLIHEYO SA LAGUNA NANGUNA SA PHILIPPINE STATISTICS QUIZ-PROVINCIAL ELIMINATION

Nais ipabatid ni Provincial Statistics Officer Magdalena T. Serqueña ng National Statistics Office (NSO)-Laguna na limang estudyante ng apat na kolehiyo ang nanguna sa tagisan ng talino sa estadistika sa Philippine Statistics Quiz- Provincial Elimination noong ika-23 ng Oktubre, 2009 sa Cultural Center, Provincial Capitol, Sta. Cruz, Laguna. Sila ay ipadadadala sa Lipa City sa ika-12 ng Nobyembre 2009 upang makipatunggali sa iba pang mga kalahok ng ibat-ibang lalawigan na nasasakop ng NSO-Region IV-A (CALABARZON). Ang unang mananalo sa Regional Elimination ay makakalahok naman sa national finals sa buwan ng Disyembre 2009.

Buhat sa Laguna, mapalad na nagwagi ng unang karangalan si Driesch Lucien R. Cortel, estudyante ng University of the Philippines – Los Baños, Laguna na kumukuha ng kursong Bachelor of Science in Statistics. Ginabayan siya ng kanyang coach na si Ms. Nellwyn M. Levita.

Dalawang estudyante naman buhat sa Laguna College ang magkasunod na umani ng ikalawa at ikatlong karangalan. Sila ay sina Michael A. Jaurigue at Adrian Jay S. Capiña na kapuwa kumukuha ng kursong Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. Si Ms. Niela Maghirang ang naging coach ng dalawang nanalong estudyante.

Umakyat sa pang-apat na pwesto si Krestian Lee Fernandez na kumukuha ng Bachelor of Science in Accountancy sa San Pablo Colleges. Siya ay sumailalim ng patnubay ni Professor Chona Y. Palencia.

Nagkamit naman ng ikalimang karangalan ang estudyante ng Bachelor of Secondary Education na si Marc Aller Anthony M. Guevarra ng Laguna State Polytechnic University-San Pablo City Campus. Si Ms. Arlene P. Mario ang kanyang naging coach.

Tumanggap ng salaping gantimpala at tropeyo ang limang nanalo buhat kay Gobernador Teresita S, Lazaro. Pinagkalooban naman sila ng NSO-Laguna ng Certificate of Recognition at token, gayundin ng salaping gantimpala, Certificate of Recognition at token ang mga coach bilang pagkilala sa kanilang kahusayan sa paggabay sa kani-kanilang contestants.

Ang resulta ng patimpalak na ito ay magpapatunay kung gaano ka-epektibo ang pagtuturo ng estadistika bilang bahagi ng matematika sa high school. Ang PSQ ay isinusulong din ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED). (NSO Laguna).

DOÑA LEONILA (MINI-FOREST) PARK

What is now known as Doña Leonila (Mini-Forest) Park overlooking the Sampaloc Lake is actually a portion of the site for the City Hall Complex purchased in 1937 by the Municipal Government of San Pablo headed by President Inocencio Barleta, which was partly developed after the termination of World War II under the administration of appointed City Mayor, Dr. Fernando A.
