WORLD AIDS DAY ACTIVITIES, ANG LUNSOD NG SAN PABLO SA DEC. 2010

  San Pablo City- Taun-taon ay nakikiisa ang Lunsod ng San Pablo sa pagdiriwang ng World AIDS Day tuwing Disyembre kaalinsabay sa iba’t-ibang pagdiriwang ding ginaganap sa iba’t-ibang parte ng bansa at ng mundo.

     Ang pagsasagawa ng iba’t-ibang programs at activities ay sa pagtataguyod ng City Health Office sa pamumuno ni City Health Officer, Dr. Job Brion at sa pangunguna ni Dra. Mercedita Caponpon, Social Hygiene Clinic Supervisor ng CHO at sa pakikipagtulungan naman ni Mayor Vicente Amante.

     Ayon kay Dra. Caponpon ang mga gagawing programa ay ang Christmas decoration contest sa mga bars o Paskuhan sa Bars at paglalagay na ng sariling condom corners sa lahat ng clubs at bars kung saan ang mga clubowners na ang bibili ng glass shelf na gagamitin dito.

     Mula Nobyembre 4 naman ay sinimulan na ng CHO ang kanilang satellite clinic sa Barangay II-D Health Center para sa free papsmears at gamot sa mga “freelancers”. Magkakaroon naman sa Disyembre 2 ng libreng HIV screening, Hepa B at Syphilis Testing sa City Health Extension sa Barangay San Jose. Kasabay rin dito ang lecture sa HIV Aids at STD gayundin ng Christmas party at gift giving.

     Para naman sa grupo ng mga MSMs (men having sex with other men) at iba pang high risk population ay magkakaroon ng visitation sa kanilang mga lugar. Maglalagay rin ng mga billboards kaugnay sa pag-iwas at paglaban sa nakakamatay na sakit na HIV-AIDS sa may Dona Leonila Part, City Plaza, Shopping Mall, Barangay II-D at San Jose. DOÑA LEONILA (MINI-FOREST) PARK

What is now known as Doña Leonila (Mini-Forest) Park overlooking the Sampaloc Lake is actually a portion of the site for the City Hall Complex purchased in 1937 by the Municipal Government of San Pablo headed by President Inocencio Barleta, which was partly developed after the termination of World War II under the administration of appointed City Mayor, Dr. Fernando A. Bautista. During the incumbency of elected Mayor Lauro D. Dizon Sr., with the help of the Rotary Club of San Pablo, and under the supervision of Dr. Juan B. Hernandez, then club secretary of the local Rotary Club and Chairman of the City Beautification Committee, constructed some park structures at the park, with the fountain featuring the country lass with agriculture harvest as centerpiece.
