CALAMBA CITY, Laguna-The City Government of Calamba under the leadership of Mayor Joaquin M. Chipeco Jr, in coordination with the Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Releations-Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) successfully hosted the “Business Forum for the Diplomatic Corps Economic and Commercial Officers” at the Ayala Greenfields Estate Clubhouse, Calamba City on April 7, 2011.
The forum was attended by ambassadors, economic ministers from 27 countries, business locators, representatives from the City Government of Calamba and delegates from national government agencies (NGOs).
The activity aims to encourage more foreign investments and strengthen the economic ties of the City with other government agencies and foreign countries.
In his message, Hon. Antonio V. Rodriguez, Undersecretary for International Economic Relations-DFA, stated that Calamba can speak for itself for its tremendous business opportunities investors could venture into.
Highlights of the activity were audio-visual presentation showcasing the many business opportunities and the business-friendly environment Calamba City has to offer; an open forum where moderators composed of NEDA Regional Director Severino C. Santos; Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Regional Governor, Mr. Eduardo R. Nicolas III; Laguna Chamber of Commerce & Industry representative, Mr. Mario Mamon; and Light Industry and Science Park of the Philippines (LISPP) Vice President, Mr. Patrick Allan L. Perez ably answered guest participants’ questions about putting up of businesses and other form of investments in the city as well as the region.(alan c. ortillano)
