MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang is suspending classes on all levels , including post-graduate courses, in Metro Manila and 9 provinces including Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Bulacan, Laguna , Cavite and Rizal on Thursday, August 9. Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa, Jr. issued Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 34 announcing the suspension of classes, according to Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda. He said work in government and the private sector will resume tomorrow. MANILA, Philippines – San Pablo Laguna board member Reynaldo de la Torre Paras who was wounded following an ambushed in the province Wednesday evening died on Thursday, police said. San Pablo police said Paras passed away around 3:20 p.m. while undergoing treatment at the San Pablo Medical Center after he and his driver identified as Geovanni Legaspi Dumaraos were attacked on A. Bonifacio Street in Barangay (village) VII-C, San Pablo City, Laguna, around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday. Superintendent Romeo de Castro, chief of police, earlier said that one of the suspects, identified as Eugene Rocaldo Bacoto, 25, was also wounded after Paras managed to return fire at the gunmen. Paras and Bacoto were both rushed to the hospital for medical treatment, he said.
