STA. CRUZ, Laguna - Sa pamamagitan ng Memorandum No. 35, Series of 2007, na nilagdaan noong Hunyo 6, 2007, ipinababatid ni Gobernadora Teresita S. Lazaro na sa bisa ng Presidential Proclamation No. 1292 ay ipinahahayag na ang Araw ng Martes, Hunyo 19, 2007, ay isang tanging araw na walang pasok o special (non-working) day sa buong Lalawigan ng Laguna at Lunsod ng Calamba upang ang lahat ay mabigyan ng sapat na pagkakataon na makapagsagawa ng kalakarang paggunita sa ika-146 kaarawan ng kapanganakan ni Dr. Jose P. Rizal, ang pambansang bayani. Sa pahayag ng punonglalawigan, marapat lamang na alalahanin ang mga isinulong na kaisipan at paninindigan ni Dr. Jose Rizal na nagluklok sa kanya sa mataas na antas ng kabayanihan, bilang isang paraan ng pagpapamulat ng kahalagahan nito sa mga kabataan sa buong lalawigan, at sa buong bansa. BERRIS, NAHALAL SA IKA-3 PAGKAKATAON

Batay sa mga ulat na nakalap mula sa Office of the Election Officer ng Calauan, muling nahalal si Alkalde Buenafrido “George” T. Berris sa pamamagitan ng kalamangang 3,416 boto sa kanyang kalabang si Concejal Allan V. Sanchez ng Aksyong Demokratiko na nakatipon ng 7,354 boto. Kapartido ni Gobernadora Teresita S. Lazaro, si Berris ay nagtamo ng 10,770 boto sa kanyang ikalawang reeleksyon, na higit na malaki kaysa 9,886 na natamo niya noong May 10, 2004 National and Local Elections. Muli ring nahalal si Bise Alkalde June Josepht Faylona Brion ng Nationalist Peoples Coalition na nagtamo ng 7,209 boto. Ang nahalal na mga kagawad ng Sangguniang Bayan dito ay sina: Dante C. Escares, LAKAS-CMD, 7,597; Rolie Martin C. Hilario, NPC, 7,817; Allan V. Sanchez II, NPC, 7,385; Gertrudo L. Roxas, LAKAS-CMD, 6,476; Joseph M. Larona, NPC, 6,095; Joselito M. Manalo, NPC, 6,032; Dimna P. Maligalig, LAKAS-CMD, 5,983; at Marlyn V. Maloles, NPC, 5,647.

5,500-meter foot rail, now on open to authorized personnel

SAN PABLO CITY – The 5.5-kilometer foot rail crisscrossing the 384-hectare watershed of the San Pablo City Water District (SPCWD) at Barangay Sto. Angel here was formally opened last Wednesday morning (May 30, 2007) and now being used by personnel assigned to help norture, protect and preserve the 384-hectare watershed for Malabanban Spring Source. The narrow concrete steps will help facilitate easy monitoring, survey, and project implementation, as well as help protect the wildlife in the area, and for maximum sustained yield of water resources from the spring. As a requirement provided for in the Code on Sanitation of the Philippines, only authorized personnel must enter watershed area of any spring that serve as source for communal water supply system, and even their movement are limited by the assigned activities they must perform within the area.
