Dr. Jaime Aristotle B. Alip was recently cited by SM City San Pablo as one ot the “Lakeside Charms of San Pablo” as a public acknowledgement of his contribution in the formulation of an economic development program that helped improved the living condition of the poor in the countryside. To quoted City Administrator Loreto S. Amante, “Inspired by Muhammad Yunus, of Bangladeshi who funded the Nobel Prize-Winning Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, Dr. Alip, a San Pableño, founded in 1986 the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD) Mutually Reinforcing Institution, that eventually led to the opening of CARD Bank that cater to the poor, and ‘for their effort to create economic and social development from below,’ he was chosen as a 2008 Magsaysay Awardee for Public Service. He said that he does not own CARD Bank because it belongs to the 1.3-million members, but simply manage it, making it now a Ten-Billion Peso Enterprise.” ( Ruben E. Taningco )
