The Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) formed a Knowledge Management Division (KMD) as part of its Rationalization Plan approved by the Department pof Budget and Management (DBM).  Creation of the division supports the agency’s ISO 9001-2000 certification.  In addition, it works to strengthen the institute’s goal to become a continually learning organization where improvement of its people is of vital importance. One of only a few national government agencies in the country with such a unit,   ASTI managed to fill most of its vacant positions and started full operation this year.  It currently pursues a program strategy as follows: 1.         Enhance application of knowledgemanagement initiatives in daily operations; 2.        Develop appropriate policies, incentive mechanisms and information systems to promote capture, sharing and reuse of data; 3.        Enhance communities of practice to allow direct, peer-to-peer sharing of valuable knowledge not captured
