FILIPINO STUDENTS TAKE CHARGE OF SAVING SAMPALOC LAKE

San Pablo City, Laguna, Philippines : An estimated 180 students, teachers, advisers and community leaders participated in Aguaterra Institute's Integrative Systems for Intuitive, Natural and Creative Technologies Workshop for the Environment December 4, 2012 at the San Pablo City Central School. The workshop participants broke up into 9 working  groups to discuss the problems facing Sampaloc Lake and the urgency of taking direct action to save it from pollution and other urgent concerns. The participants came from all seven elementary school districts and the high school as a separate district. The event was a collaborative project of the Friends of Seven Lakes Foundation (FSLF), the regional Department of Education and the Aguaterra Institute. After the breakout groups conference. seven elementary school students reported their findings, strategies and commitments, as stakeholder for the lake. Palace suspends classes in NCR, 9 provinces

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang is suspending classes on all levels , including post-graduate courses, in Metro Manila and 9 provinces including Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Bulacan, Laguna , Cavite and Rizal on Thursday, August 9. Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa, Jr. issued Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 34 announcing the suspension of classes, according to Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda. He said work in government and the private sector will resume tomorrow.
