SAN PABLO CITY - Muling pinatunayan ng San Pablo City Science High School (SPCSHS) ang pagkakaroon ng mataas ng pamantayan ng pagtuturo sa disiplina ng siyensya at matematika, nang ang mga mag-aaral ditto ay namayani sa kompetisyon hanggang sa matamo ang Unang Karangalan sa Individual and Team Category ng 2009 MTAP-DEPED CHALLENGE (Written Elimination) na ginanap noong nakaraang Enero 9 sa kampus ng Col. Lauro D. Dizon Memorial National High School.
Sina Edsel M. Bondad, first year student; Gio S. Marasigan, second year student; Christian Lloyd S. Tan, third year student; at Siena Catherine A. Maranan at Sherilyn M. Sanchez mga fourth year students, ay pawang naging first placer sa individual category samantalang sa team category na binubuo nina Edsel M. Bondad, Clarissa Cacao at Diana Jean Guinto, First Year Team; Gio S. Marasigan, Edlyn Gatchalian at Jessa Mae Banayo. Second Year Team; Christian Lloyd S. Tan, Bernadette Culaban at Aryan Guban, Third Year Team; ; at Siena Catherine A. Maranan, Sherilyn M. Sanchez at Andrei Exconde, Fourth Year Team, ay itinanghal naman na mga RANK 1 o mga nangunang team sa isinagawang math challenge para sa mga estudyante ng 21 private and public secondary schools sa lunsod na ito . Ang mga gurong sina Venus O. Macam at Albert Saul ang tumayong Coach and Adviser ng mga nagsipagwaging mag-aaral.
“Ito ay muling pagpapatunay ng San Pablo City Science High School sa walang putol niyang paglalakbay tungo sa higit na karunungan sa larangan ng matematika at siyensya. Amin ang malaking kagalakan sapagkat sa kanyang ika-apat na taon mula nang ito’y matatag, ay nasasaksihan na ang pag-ani sa bunga ng mga binhing noon ay itinanim ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon sa pangunguna ni City Schools Superintendent Ester C. Lozada Ed. D sa lilim ng mabunying pakikiisa at pakikipagtulungan ni Mayor Vicente B. Amante” wika ni Education Supervisor 1 at SPCSHS Officer- In-Charge Helen A. Ramos
Ang SPCSHS ay naitatag noong taong 2005 sa pagsisikap ng administrasyon ni Mayor Vicente B. Amante upang maalalayan ang Kagawaran ng Edukasyon sa pagsusulong nito sa kagalingan ng mga piling mag-aaral na may pambihirang talino at kakayanan sa larangan ng siyensya at matematika. (SANDY BELARMINO)
What is now known as Doña Leonila (Mini-Forest) Park overlooking the Sampaloc Lake is actually a portion of the site for the City Hall Complex purchased in 1937 by the Municipal Government of San Pablo headed by President Inocencio Barleta, which was partly developed after the termination of World War II under the administration of appointed City Mayor, Dr. Fernando A. Bautista. During the incumbency of elected Mayor Lauro D. Dizon Sr., with the help of the Rotary Club of San Pablo, and under the supervision of Dr. Juan B. Hernandez, then club secretary of the local Rotary Club and Chairman of the City Beautification Committee, constructed some park structures at the park, with the fountain featuring the country lass with agriculture harvest as centerpiece. Probably, Hernandez and then City Engineer Perfecto Reyes were inspired by the figures affixed on the façade of the City Hall Building which symbolizes progress.
