MGA LIONS, NAGTATAYO NG GUSALING PAMPAARALAN


SAN PABLO CITY – Iniulat ni Club President Romulo M. Awayan sinisikap nilang ang itinatayong isang two-room school building para sa Sityo Baloc Annex ng Santo Niño Elementary School ng San Pablo City (Host) Lions Club ay matatapos o magagamit na sa bubuksang school year upang ipalit sa luma at yari sa mahihinang materyales na gusaling pinag-aaralan ng mga batang mula sa Grade One hanggang Grade Four, at pinangangasiwaan ng dalawang guromg sina Bb. Donnabel B. Perez at Liza L. Esturaz.

Ang mga mag-aaral sa Sityo Baloc Annex ay pawamg mga anak ng mga scavenger o ng mga namumulot ng basura sa garbage dumpsite ng pangasiwaang lunsod, kaya ang paaralan ay nakatayo sa hindi kalayuan sa makabagong sanitary landfill kung saan mayroon ding material recovery facilities. May mga bata rin ditong anak ng mga magtatanim ng gulay na naging masigla sa kapaligiran ng dumpsite simula ng maging operational ang sanitary landfill at nawala na ang masamang amoy at mga kolonya ng langaw sa tapunan ng basura mula sa kalunsuran.

Ayon kay Club President Romy Awayan, nakatutuwa na ang Host Lions Club ay tinatulungan
ng mga boluntaryong karpintero na mga kawal ng 202nd Infrantry Brigade sa pakikipag-ugnayan kay Brig. Gen. Jorge V. Segovia,. commanding officer ng brigada ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas. Tumutulong din ang Parents Teachers and Community Association (PTCA) ng Sityo Baloc Annex at maging ang Sangguniang Barangay ng Santo Niño na may hurisdiksyon sa dumpsite area. Technical consultant sa proyekto sina Engr. Bernardo C. Adriano Jr. at Danilo D. Dichoso na kapuwa past president ng kanilang klab.

Si Engr. Romy Awayan ay siya ring Pangulo ng Rasza Agro Produce Corporation na nagpoproseso ng Coco-Methyl Ester (CME) sa ilalim ng brand name na DIEZEL Aide na kinikilala ng Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development (PCIERD) ng DOST na mahusay na uri ng biofuel na pandagdag o additive sa gatong sa sasakyan. Ang kanilang planta ay nasa Barangay San Antonio I (Balanga) sa lunsod na ito.. (Ben Taningco)

Miss Philippines-USA 2004-2005, Barbara Jean Chumacera Apostol, 27, passed the New York State’s examination for admission to the BAR given on July 24-25, 2007 . She attained her law degree at Hofstra University School of Law in the State of New York where she graduated with honors last May 20, 2007 .
