CESI CHEMICAL TREATMENT PLANT, TULUYANG IPINASARA NG DENR

San Pablo City, Laguna - Lutas na ang suliranin hinggil sa 900 toneladang chemical waste ng lalawigang ito makaraang tuluyang ipasara ng Pollution Adjudication Board (PAB) ang treatment plant na nagpoproseso nito dahil sa paglabag sa batas pangkalikasan.


Sa dayalogong ginanap sa satellite office ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) sa lunsod na ito na kung saan dumagsa ang mga nagrereklamong mamamayan buhat sa kinatatayuan ng Korean firm Clean Earth Solution Inc. (CESI) sa Brgy. San Antonio I, San Pablo City, ay humupa ang mainit na talakayan ng ibaba ng PAB ang kautusan sa pamamagitan ni DENR Sec. Lito Atienza.


Ang kautusan ng kalihim ay personal na ipinaabot ni DENR 4A Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria na ikinatuwa nina Brgy. Chairman Javier Icaro, Kagawad Rexon Banaag, Danilo Magracia, Lito Cortez, Danilo Bautista, Wally Magracia, Gloria Estrellado at Allan Dacara, at iba pang barangay official na sina Edgardo Escano, Telay Bautista at dating chairman Delio Calabia. Personal na isinugo ni Mayor Vicente B. Amante si CENRO Ramon de Roma.


Batay sa direktiba ay ire-retrieve ng mga kompanyang nagtambak ng chemical waste sa compound ng CESI ang kani-kanilang basura at inatasan pa ang mga ito ng kalihim na tumulong sa rehabilitasyon ng naturang barangay.


At upang madaling magkaroon ng kalutasan ay inako na ng DENR Region 4A ang pag-aasikaso ng mga permit to transport chemical waste sa orihinal na pinanggalingan ng mga ito.


Ang CESI ay napatawan ng Close and Desist Order noon pang 2006 dahil sa illegal na pagtatambak ng untreated chemical and toxic waste sa lalawigan ng Quezon. (7LPC/Nani Cortez)

Miss Philippines-USA 2004-2005, Barbara Jean Chumacera Apostol, 27, passed the New York State’s examination for admission to the BAR given on July 24-25, 2007 . She attained her law degree at Hofstra University School of Law in the State of New York where she graduated with honors last May 20, 2007 . At Hofstra Law School , Barbara was the Vice President of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and was appointed to the position of Diversity Affairs Coordinator by the president of the Student Bar Association. Ms. Apostol was a 2002 cum luade graduate of Boston College, one of the oldest Jesuit University in the United States with campus in Chestbut Hill, Massachusetts, where she majored in pre-law and communication studies.
