FISHERFOLK DAY SA LUNSOD, MAKAHULUGANG NAIPAGDIWANG

BFAR-Region IV-A Fisherfolk Director Edison Y. Jaramillo, National Fisherfolk Director Felizardo Lim, Senior Board Member Karen C. Agapay, BFAR Assistant Director Benjamin Tabios Jr., at PAMPANO President Rafael Olivera.

Ang pangunahing layunin ng Tilapia Festival bilang tampok na bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Fisherfolk Month sa Lunsod ng San Pablo ay hindi lamang upang turuan ang mga mangingisda ng makabagong teknolohiya sa pagaalaga ng tilapia, at paghahanda ng iba’t ibang lutuing salig sa isdang ito, kundi upang palaganapin ang tamang kamalayan at kasanayan sa pangangalaga at pangangasiwa ng kapaligiran ng paligawan ng tilapia, sa kadahilanang hindi na mapasusubalian ang naitutulong ng industriya ng tilapia sa pagpapataas ng at pagpapatatag sa antas ng kabuhayan, hindi lamang ng Lunsod ng San Pablo at Lalawigqan ng Laguna, kundi ng buong bansa, sang-ayon kay Pangulong Edison Y. Jaramillo ng Seven Lakes Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Councils ay siyang natalagang “Fisherfolk Director” ng BFAR-Region IV-A (CALABARZON) na ang panunungkulan ay sa buong buwan ng Mayo 2009.

Ang ginanap na Tilapia Festival ay sa pagtataguyod ng Tanggapan ni Alkalde Vicente B. Amante, at Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA), na tumanggap din ng tulong mula sa Tanggapan ni Provincial Administrator Dennis S. Lazaro. Ang palatuntunang cultural na ginanap sa PAMANA Hall ay may suporta mula sa Kiwanis Club of Siete Lagos na pinamamatnugutan ni Pangulong Merle Javaluyas, at ang pangangalaga ng kapayapaan at kaayusan ay sa tulong ng Alpha Company ng 1st Laguna Ready Reserve Batallion na pinangasiwaan ni Ten. Antonio Aviquivil.

Naging pangunahing panauhin sa maghapong pagdiriwang sina National Fisherfolk Director Felizardo Lim, Atty. Benjamin Tabios Jr., BFAR Assistant Director na kumatawan kay BFAR Director Malcolm I. Sarmiento. Pagtugon sa paanyaya ni Fisherfolk Director Edison Y. Jaramillo, ay nagpaabot ng pagbati si Senador Manuel B. Villar, at sumubaybay sa mga kaganapan sina Board Members Karen C. Miss Philippines-USA 2004-2005, Barbara Jean Chumacera Apostol, 27, passed the New York State’s examination for admission to the BAR given on July 24-25, 2007 . She attained her law degree at Hofstra University School of Law in the State of New York where she graduated with honors last May 20, 2007 . At Hofstra Law School , Barbara was the Vice President of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and was appointed to the position of Diversity Affairs Coordinator by the president of the Student Bar Association. Ms. Apostol was a 2002 cum luade graduate of Boston College, one of the oldest Jesuit University in the United States with campus in Chestbut Hill, Massachusetts, where she majored in pre-law and communication studies.
