CHARO SANTOS-CONCIO LED IN GIFT GIVING IN CALAUAN

CALAUAN, Laguna - Dec. 25 (PNA) -- ABS-CBN President  Maria Rosario “Charo”  Santos-Concio led a gift-giving and feeding project for poor families in Barangay Dayap, Calauan, Laguna on Christmas Day.

Concio said the project was conducted under the "Bayanijuan sa Calauan" as a culmination of the network's Christmas Campaign which was launched last November.

She was also accompanied by the network's top management headed by ABS-CBN chairman and chief executive officer Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III as well as ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. (AFI) managing director Gina Lopez.

Concio said they fed more than 1,000 families who were mostly former residents of Estero de Paco and other areas along both sides of Pasig River. They were relocated to Calauan as part of the seven-year plan to clean up the Pasig River.

Some victims of the recent storms in other parts of Luzon were also transferred to the newly-built community in Barangay Dayap. And   "We intend to reach the 6,000 families by next year," said Concio. "I'm just so happy because in two to three months, their lives were completely transformed,"

Other than the feeding facilitated by the network executives, ABS-CBN also gave cash prizes to the winners of the recently held community song and dance competition “Sayawit” and to the cleanest and most organized blocks in the community.  "Such recognitions give them inspiration and encouragement so they can be a good example to our fellow Kapamilya," said Concio. Bautista. During the incumbency of elected Mayor Lauro D. Dizon Sr., with the help of the Rotary Club of San Pablo, and under the supervision of Dr. Juan B. Hernandez, then club secretary of the local Rotary Club and Chairman of the City Beautification Committee, constructed some park structures at the park, with the fountain featuring the country lass with agriculture harvest as centerpiece. Probably, Hernandez and then City Engineer Perfecto Reyes were inspired by the figures affixed on the façade of the City Hall Building which symbolizes progress. Sometimes on April of 1961 when then President Carlos Garcia made a
