SM City San Pablo Gives Joy to Sityo Baloc Kids

San Pablo City-- SM City San Pablo recently turn over 188 toy bears to the pupils of Baloc Annex of StoNiño  Elementary School.  The campaign dubbed as “Bears of Joy,” where shoppers get a chance to adopt teddy bears for just P100 then these “Bears of Joy” will be donated to charitable institutions across the country. Mall shoppers were able to participate in the program where for  P200 buys two teddy bears, one to keep and one to be given to selected beneficiaries of the program.

This project aims to promote the value of sharing and giving and to remind mallgoers that they too have a responsibility towards their immediate community. With the assistance of City CouncilorMonica Karla C.Adajar, SM City San Pablo under the leadership of Mall Manager Gabriel Timothy D. Exconde were able to locate SityoBaloc, a rural community adjacent to the Sanitary Landfill and Material Recovery Facilties of the City Government of San Pablo, as the chosen beneficiary Baloc Annex of Santo Niño Elementary School headed by School Principal Karen Prescila have 180 pupils. Some of the kids there go to school barefooted and have not owned or played a toy bear. It was indeed a moving experience to see smiles in the faces of these children.

Bears of Joy is one of the many SM Cares program of SM Supermalls, and SM City San Pablo is very fortunate to be part of the community that celebrates giving and sharing. (Niña Pasco Wong)

Probably, Hernandez and then City Engineer Perfecto Reyes were inspired by the figures affixed on the façade of the City Hall Building which symbolizes progress. Sometimes on April of 1961 when then President Carlos Garcia made a...

San Pablo City’s Hagdang Bato

Nobody knew the number of steps it has:   when it was constructed and by whom,   until Mayor Vicente B. Amante asked his private secretary to actually count the number of steps and copy the wordings on the tablets affixed on the lower part of the park structure.             The Hagdang Bato (concrete stairway) leading to the Sampaloc Lake, which is now a famous local landmark, is now part of the logo or official seal of San Pablo, being the City of Seven Lakes.           It was constructed in November 1915 under the administration of municipal president Marcial Alimario, but many, including the youth and technical personnel of the local engineering office, simply look it for granted.  Nobody knew the number of steps it has, when it was constructed and by whom, until Mayor Vicente B. Amante asked his private secreta...
