The Apex Club of San Pablo City led by Club President Rommel Austria, and accompanied by National President Raymund Ciceron, donated 50 pieces of chairs to the Joel Town Elementary School, a unit of the Division of San Pablo City at Barangay San Rafael, last Friday, July 27, 2007.
The chairs were officially received by school principal May Coreen Borja, were sreceived by the local Apex Club from the International Bazaar Foundation headed by Mrs. Lovely Romulo, wife of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo, through the coordination of Apexian Soc Biscocho.
In 2006, volunteers from Apex San Pablo and various Apex Clubs from Tasmania, Australia constructed a classroom building at Joel Town. The chair donation completes the final phase of Apex support to the school.
President Austria said that his club is planning to build another school building in San Pablo City through the traditional bayanihan custom of helping people and communities in need.
Apex is a men’s organization between the ages of 18 and 45 dedicated to community service and leadership training. Through Apex, members meet and form lasting friendships locally and abroad, develop leadership skills, and serve the community while enjoying sports and fellowship. They meet every second Saturday of the month, 7 pm, at the Apex Clubhouse along the Doña Evangelina M. Macapagal Boulevard, the peripheral road of Sampaloc Lake.
