BATANG PABLO’Y, UMANI NG GINTO SA VIETNAM


Si Carl Angelo D. Perez, kaisa-isang anak ng mag-asawang Millian A. Perez at dating Frances Melecia Dizon ng Barangay San Roque, San Pablo City, ay umani ng medalyang ginto ng siya ay lumahok sa 9th ASEAN Age-Group Chess Championship na ginanap sa Danang City, isang coastal city sa Vietnam, noong nakaraang Hunyo 9 – 18, 2008. Siya ay kagawad ng three-man Philippine Team para sa Under 12 Year Old Category.Ang kanyang team-mate ay sina John Ray Butucan ng Davao City, at Vince Angelo Medina ng Bacoor, Cavite, at ang kanilang coach ay si International Master Idelfonzo Datu.

Sang-ayon kay dating Kongresista Prospero Petchay, pangulo ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines, ang napagwagian ng Philippine Team sa Under 12 Category ay gold medal ng tanghalin silang kampyon sa standard chess competition matapos talunin ang national team ng Vietnam, at bronze medal sa blitz chess competition (Five Minutes Game) ng sila ay maging third placer sa labanang nilahukan ng sampong (10) national team.

Sang-ayon kay City Administrator Loreto S. Amben na bilang isang Foreign Service Student ay nakapagsagawa ng On-the-Job Training sa Secretariat ng ASEAN na naka-base sa Jakarta, Indonesia, ang Association of Southeast Asian Nations sa kasalukuyan ay binubuo ng sampong (10) bansa, na gaya ng mga sumusunod: Indonesia, Malaysia, Pilipinas, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Myanmar, at Cambodia.

Layunin ng ASEAN na mapasigla ang paglago ng kabuhayan, kaunlarang panglipunan, at pagpapaunlad sa kulturang likas sa magkakalapit na mga bansa sa rehiyon.(RET)

Passed the BAR Examination in the State of New York, U. S. A.

Miss Philippines-USA 2004-2005, Barbara Jean Chumacera Apostol, 27, passed the New York State’s examination for admission to the BAR given on July 24-25, 2007 . She attained her law degree at Hofstra University School of Law in the State of New York where she graduated with honors last May 20, 2007 . At Hofstra Law School , Barbara was the Vice President of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and was appointed to the position of Diversity Affairs Coordinator by the president of the Student Bar Association. Ms. Apostol was a 2002 cum luade graduate of Boston College, one of the oldest Jesuit University in the United States with campus in Chestbut Hill, Massachusetts, where she majored in pre-law and communication studies.
