Cavite Adopts Bioreactor Technology For Composting

DOST CALABARZON through the Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) of Cavite, assisted by Dasmarinas Mayor Jenny A. Barzaga, in acquiring bioreactor facility developed by the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI), Mayor Barzaga obtained financial assistance worth nearly PhP1-million through the Small Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP). The amount was used to fabricate two, one-toner bioreactor units for the municipal government of Dasmarinas. Use of the bioreactor can convert the municipality’s market waste into an income generating enterprise that will benefit not only the residents but also local farmers. It will make widely available low-priced organic fertilizer. The production site will also serve as demonstration area for DOST-developed technology.

     Two units of the bioreactor were completed and transferred late last year at the Material Recovery Facility of Dasmarinas. Initial assessment was conducted by DOST-ITDI. PSTC-Cavite has scheduled conduct training courses on the use of the facility this year. (M A Servanez/A M Guevarra)

Passed the BAR Examination in the State of New York, U. S. A.

Miss Philippines-USA 2004-2005, Barbara Jean Chumacera Apostol, 27, passed the New York State’s examination for admission to the BAR given on July 24-25, 2007 . She attained her law degree at Hofstra University School of Law in the State of New York where she graduated with honors last May 20, 2007 . At Hofstra Law School , Barbara was the Vice President of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and was appointed to the position of Diversity Affairs Coordinator by the president of the Student Bar Association.
