HALL OF FAMER IN ESSAY WRITING CONTEST

For having had produce three of the four first placers in the Annual On-the-Spot English Essay Writing Contest for high school fourth year students, the Laguna College recently received the Perpetual Trophy presented by the contest sponsor, the Rural Bank of Seven Lakes (San Pablo City), Inc. during a simple ceremony held at the board room of the , Every high school (both public and private) unit is being represented by a contestant and representatives of Laguna College emerged as first place winner in 2006, 2007 and 2009. Shown receiving the award from bank Chairman/President, Retired RTC Judge Odilon I. Bautista (from left) are High School Principal Aurora S. Baldrias, Coach Celenia A. Panaliganm and this year winner Ronela Kaye B. Flores. Bank Manager Eduardo M. Garcia looks on. Essay Writing Contest   is a good medium to train the capability to express the feeling and sentiments of the young high school students on any particular subject, hence, the bank policy makers opted to sponsor and institutionalized the annual contest since Year 2006 when they commemorated their 32nd Founding Anniversary (R. E. Taningco)

San Pablo City’s Hagdang Bato

             Nobody knew the number of steps it has:   when it was constructed and by whom,   until Mayor Vicente B. Amante asked his private secretary to actually count the number of steps and copy the wordings on the tablets affixed on the lower part of the park structure.             The Hagdang Bato (concrete stairway) leading to the Sampaloc Lake, which is now a famous local landmark, is now part of the logo or official seal of San Pablo, being the City of Seven Lakes.           It was constructed in November 1915 under the administration of municipal president Marcial Alimario, but many, including the youth and technical personnel of the local engineering office, simply look it for granted.  Nobody knew the number of steps it has, when it was constructed and by whom, until Mayor Vicente B.
