NATIONAL CIVIL ENGINEERING WEEK IPINAGDIWANG

San Pablo City –  Ginunita ng  Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers Inc. (PICE) sa buong kapuluan,  kabilang na ang PICE-San Pablo City Chapter ang National Civil Engineering Week noong Nobyembre 22-28 base na rin sa deklarasyon ni Pangulong Benigno C. Aquino III.
     Nagpaabot ng pagbati si City Administrator Loreto S. Amante sa PICE-SPC Chapter at kinilala ang malaking kontribusyon ng mga inhenyero sa buong komunidad. Hinimok pa nito ang mga ito na pag-ibayuhin pa ang pakikiisa maging sa proyekto ng lokal na pamahalaan para sa isang mas maunlad na Lunsod ng San Pablo.

     Ang PICE ay isang lehitimong organisasyon ng mga Civil Engineer na tuwirang nakatutulong upang maipatupad ang mga makabuluhang proyekto para sa kaunlaran ng pamayanan. Ang pagdiriwang ng National Civil Engineering Week ay isinasagawa bilang pagkilala  sa mga mahahalagang kontribusyon ng mga ito sa pagbuo ng isang komunidad. 

     Kaugnay ng pagdiriwang ay nagsagawa ang mga miyembro ng PICE sa lunsod ng iba’t ibang gawain tulad ng pag-aalay ng isang misang pasasalamat, motorcade, gift giving para sa mga kinukupkop na matatanda sa Bahay Nazareth. Ito ay dinaluhan rin ng mga Civil Engineering Students buhat sa Laguna College. Ilan rin sa kanila ang nakabilang sa delegasyon sa PICE National Convention sa Cebu International Convention Center noong Nobyembre 25-27. 

     Ang PICE-San Pablo City Chapter ay pinamumunuan ng mga kasalukuyang opisyal na sina: Engr. Rufino Mendoza, President; Engr. Edwin Igharas , 1st Vice President; Engr. Noel Tabo, 2nd Vice President; Engr. Herminio Borja, Secretary; Engr. Abrilito Felismino, Treasurer; Engr. Enrique delos Reyes, Auditor; Engr. Nestor Pasco, Business Manager; Engr. Cleto Arana, Jr., P.R.O.; Board of Directors sina Engr. Chrisol U. Capuno; Engr. Antonio Soriano; Engr. Joubert Munos; Engr. Romualdo Palomar; Engr. John Raymond Dequina; Engr. Cesar Samar; Engr. Ramil Bobadilla; at si Engr. Guillermo C. Sunega, Jr.ang  Immediate Past President. (CIO-San Pablo)

DOÑA LEONILA (MINI-FOREST) PARK

What is now known as Doña Leonila (Mini-Forest) Park overlooking the Sampaloc Lake is actually a portion of the site for the City Hall Complex purchased in 1937 by the Municipal Government of San Pablo headed by President Inocencio Barleta, which was partly developed after the termination of World War II under the administration of appointed City Mayor, Dr. Fernando A. Bautista. During the incumbency of elected Mayor Lauro D. Dizon Sr., with the help of the Rotary Club of San Pablo, and under the supervision of Dr. Juan B. Hernandez, then club secretary of the local Rotary Club and Chairman of the City Beautification Committee, constructed some park structures at the park, with the fountain featuring the country lass with agriculture harvest as centerpiece.
