Lucas M. Ferrer, a fourth student at the San Pablo City Science High School emerged as first placer in the 5th On-The-Spot English Essary Writing Contest sponsored by the Rural Bank of Seven Lakes (SPC), Inc. to help commemorate their 36th Founding Anniversary. He is the son of Alfredo Ferrer and Gerlinde Ferrer of Barangay San Jose, and his coach is Mrs. Rosette Eseo. The secondary school that he represented was declared Champion School for School Year 2010-2011.
Coached by Mr. Rowena Arcillas, the second placer is David Lee V. Monteclaro of San Bartolome National High School. He is the son of Leo and Angelina Monteclaro of Barangay San Miguel, San Pablo City. While the third placer is Mae Khrystelle M. Belen, a senior high school student at the San Pablo Colleges. She is a resident of Barangay San Miguel, Alaminos, Laguna, being the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfredo C. Belen Jr.
This On-The-Spot English Essay Writing Contest is a continuing program of the Rural Bank of Seven Lakes, that coincided with the commemoration of their founding anniversary during the Month of November, to help provide incentives for the youth to excel in English Language to help achieve the dreams of many to be globally competitive as workers in communication industry, as well as in cultural inter-actions. And this signifies the bank’s expression of gratitude to the community for all the trust and patronage they have accorded to this financial institution which is the oldest rural bank operating in the city today, Retired RTC Judge Odilon I. Bautista said in welcoming the young essayists representing the 21 secondary schools in the city to the bank’s board room where the awarding ceremonies were held last Monday, November 22, 2010. Incidentally, Rural Bank of Seven Lakes (San Pablo City), Inc. was established in November 21, 1974.
As guest speaker during the awarding ceremony, City Schools Superintendent Enric T. Sanchez acknowledged the Rural Bank of Seven Lakes (RB7L) as the only business/commercial institution in the city that has actively participated in the Adopt-A-School Program of the Department of Education, that so far, the bank has adopted Sto, Cristo Elementary School, Bagong Pook Elementary School, Dapdapan Elementary School, and Santa Cruz (Putol) Elementary School. They have also extended financial assistances in the construction of the peripheral fence of San Gabriel Elementary School, and in providing industrial fans to the Library Hub by the City Plaza.
